Both the Red Hot Peppers and King Oliver’s Creole Jazz Band were important musical groups and had many differences in sound and performance. The Red Hot Peppers were an inno-vative group with seven members who had impressive writing and arranging talents, but never performed in front of a live audience. Instead, the Red Hot Peppers set their focus on making recordings that were well rehearsed rather than improvised, and helped the future of jazz and swing. King Oliver’s Creole Jazz Band made the first important jazz recordings, but their music was not recorded in as good of quality as the Red Hot Peppers songs.
