Taken from The Caribbean Writers, Volume 28 the two short stories used to get compared and contrast are “Miss Annie Cooks Fish” by Charmaine Rousseau and “In Madame Tussauds’ Garden” by Robert Sandiford. Both stories takes place in the Caribbean, but to different islands. In Madame Tussauds’ Garden the story take place in Barbados and Miss Annie Cooks fish take place in Trinidad.
The theme of the two stories are different, yet death occurred in both. In “Miss Annie Cooks Fish” the death occurred in a dream whereas “In Madame Tussauds’ Garden” the death occurred naturally at home. The setting of the two stories take place at their home. The short story, Miss Annie Cooks Fish is about a married couple by the name of Annie and Winston. One day at home Annie decided she was going to cook fish since her husband Winston loves It. Winston could never decide on what kind of fish he wants so she made stew and fry fish with rice and salad. Trying to help Annie prepare the meal, Winston was rejected because of his health conditions. Annie made sure she take care of her husband. When the food was finished, she helped him to the table so he can eat. Annie started fusing about the kids in the community killing one another, with Winston trying to calm her down. After that was over they continue eating, when they was done Annie attempted to clear the table but she couldn’t do it. She was not feeling to good so Winston walked her to the bedroom. Winston was worried about what was wrong with his wife, he ended up falling asleep. While asleep Winston had a dream that their neighbor came in the house and found his wife dead. When he woke up and he meet the table cleared and dishes put away but the flies was still there, then he knew his wife had put them
