New England and the Chesapeake Bay Region were both colonies of England. Although they were both colonies of England they were different. The difference occurred because of the differences in religion, diversity, and lifestyles. The religious differences of the groups were the main reason the regions were dissimilar. Puritans moved into the New England Region, while the Chesapeake was populated by Catholics. Puritans found religious tolerance and refuge in the New England. The Puritans wanted to escape the church of England and their beliefs. The Puritans did not separate the church and state.
