I attended a NAMI family support group in Escondido. At the meeting there was only four members. They said there are usually more, like 10-14. The lead actually said nursing students were not allowed in the meeting, but she said it was a dumb rule and let me in anyways. All of the participants were aware of me and didn’t mind I was present. We start of the meeting with reading the meeting rules and introductions. The lead had son who has paranoid schizophrenia. She shared how he is very reluctant to help and treatment. His psychologist say is has anosognosia, which means a person suffer from an illness but unaware of the illness. She shares how he lives on his own in downtown. Another mother has a 29 year son who
