For as long as I can remember I have been fascinated by the people around me. I love observing how they interact, their reactions to different circumstances, their similarities and differences. It always intrigued me as to what makes every person so unique, and how each of these unique individuals relates and connects to the others around them to form the world around me. As I grew up, this fascination grew along with me, I would watch people and imagine what it was that led them to be who they are today. As a child I attended a sleep-away camp in the Catskill region of New York, which I enjoyed immensely. Eventually I went on to become a staff member in the camp, and worked with adolescents ranging between the ages of thirteen to fifteen for five summers. I started off as a staff member who led specialized activities and continued on to become a junior counselor, a counselor, and then a division head. In each of these jobs I was faced with different challenges that enabled me to develop and build my capabilities. These experiences led me to finding my future in the profession of clinical counseling. Over these summers I developed a very close connection to my campers which has in a very strong way shaped me in to who I am today. Throughout the year I maintained a close connection with many of my campers and made a special effort to keep in touch with those from troubled homes. I called to check up on them, arranged group activities and directed them to seek professional help if necessary. I got many phone calls and emails through the year in which my campers reached out either to talk something through or to share their success.
