UV stress will result in inedible replacement species or a significant decline in productivity [12]. Blood parameters truly reflects physical and chemical changes occurring in organism [10]. Walking catfish, Clarias batrachus are mostly encountered in muddy or swampy water of high turbidity [13]. They have high intolerance level and also they can adapt several physiological changes such as gills becoming highly vascularized (tree-like) organs acting as accessory breathing structures [7]. Thus walking cat fish is chosen for this study by exposing them to different environmental…show more content…
Experimental aquaria was fitted above 15cm from the water level [6]. 2.5 HEMATOLOGICAL AND BIOCHEMICAL ANALYSIS: After the vertical positioning of the fish, the lack of movement was noticed, the fishes were removed immediately and the blood was drawn from the caudal vein into EDTA and normal vacutainer. The hematological and biochemical analysis such as total cholesterol, triglycerides, High-density lipoprotein (HDL), Low-density lipoprotein (LDL), Very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), total cholesterol/HDL, Total RBC’s, Haemoglobin (Hb), Packed cell volume (PCV) and Blood Glucose were analysed in auto analyser 2.6 STATISTICAL ANALYSIS: The hematological profiles were analysed statistically by calculating the Mean± Standard error. The data were analysed by the one-way ANOVA for significance [5]. Table 1.Hematological and biochemical analysis results (mean± standard error) of Clarias batrachus from Tamil Nadu- India, exposed to various environmental factors.
