The British and Native American shad never really shared a good relationship during the time period of the French and Indian War, and, quite frankly, at no time after that, either. That is why when the Mohicans, Chingachgook and Uncas, team up with a British General and his daughters, Alice and Cora, it is a very unlikely pairing. Naturally, because of their racial history and way of life, these two groups had their significant differences but they also, surprisingly, were similar. General Munro and his daughters considered themselves dignified English people because they enjoy the sophisticated lifestyle of the upper class. Their relationship is based more on having mutual respect for each other and working as a team to survive. Since the 2 Mohicans are the last of their kind, living among millions of Americans, so Chingachgook is more involved in passing down tradition and expectations With Munro, the basis of their relationship is based on simply loving each other and following the rest of society. (Cooper). While both fathers are teaching their children how to survive, the Munro daughters learn more of their skills from teachers and society, not directly from their dad like Chingachgook teaches Uncas. But yet all are capable of surviving on their own each learning in different ways. For example, both sets of children are capable of surviving the dangers of the forests, it’s not just the native Uncas who can survive. As for both fathers loving their children unconditionally, this happens regardless of race and background. Both fathers are deeply saddened and in mourning when they each lose a child. Race and ethnicity do not discriminate on emotions. Cora came up with the plan in the Mohicans hideout that saved the lives of their party and Uncas fought to save the girls after they were captured. (Cooper). Cora and Uncas were different races but they both loved one another and could think on their feet to help the survival of each other similar to the way Chingachgook and Uncas work as
