INTRODUCTION
California is the most populous state in the USA spanning to be third-largest in area. It has over 160,000 square miles of area with more than 50,000 miles of roads, over 100 airports and thousands of miles of conventional rail systems. This shows that the state is undoubtedly very well developed. However, the State’s current transportation systems are not able to meet the demands of the current population growth. The transportation system is causing congestion in urban areas which is costing Californians huge time and money.
California High-Speed Rail is a very high budget high-speed rail system of national significance under construction in the state of California, USA. It is the largest and highly advanced system in the nation. The biggest and most ambitious infrastructure project of the century is the high-speed rail line linking San Francisco and Los Angeles. It will run at speeds of 220 miles an hour and connects the two areas in about two and a half hours which is nearly half the time taken to travel by car. Phase 1 is planned to connect the downtowns of San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Anaheim through the Central Valley with total distance spanning 520 miles (840 km) long and will be completed in 2029. In Phase 2, the route will be extended in the Central Valley north to Sacramento, and from Los Angeles east through the Inland Empire and then south to San Diego. Then total system length will be about 800 miles (1,300 km)
