Over the years there have been many novels and short stories made into movies. Hollywood frequently finds its next blockbuster from the canon of literature. This use of great literary works and sometimes the not so great literary works is often a source of contention for avid readers. The whine goes something like this, “The movie is never as good as the book.” I tend to agree with that statement but think that a better statement in general would be that “The movie and the book are never exactly the same.” This distinction is where readers of the book tend to get hung up.
