Regarding his education, Bob attended the St. Ignatus College prep school and after graduation, he enrolled at Loyola University, where he graduated with a bachelor degree in business management in 1952. Before his career began, Newhart spent two years in the United States Army as a personal manager, serving during the Korean War, after eventually being discharged in 1954. In 1958, Bob began to record comedy monologues and to send those recordings to numerous radio stations. He was noticed by a disk jockey, Dan Sorkin, who immediately set up a meeting with Bob and the head of talents at the Warner Bros. Records, what resulted in a release of Bob`s debut comedy album, “The Botton-Down Mind of Bob Newhart” (1961), for which he earned three Grammy Awards, Best Album of the Year, Best New Artist and Best Comedy Performance. Since then, Bob went on to record several more comedy albums, increasing his net worth to a large degree.
