In the development phase, the product builds momentum as the company commits more resources to the project and makes full use of cross-functional teamwork as the marketing, technical, manufacturing, and sales departments all come together to offer their expert opinions. Having a diversified and parallel development phase ensures that the product continues to meet the company's technical and financial goals. Design is uploaded by product development (PD) department to a portal of Ashok Leyland called LEAP (Lean Engineering Application and Process), from where every authorized official can view and download the design for further assistance in production. Design release includes releasing ESK (Engineering Sketch) and BOM (Bill of Material): 3.1. Engineering Sketch (ESK) - ESK is the 3D representation of every component describing about how fitment of any component is to be done, their correct orientation, position and part no. Routing of wire harness, modular hoses, fuel hose, hydraulic pipes, CAC (Charge Air Cooler) pipe is also clearly shown in the sketch. Also, the bolts which require torqueing and their torqueing value is mentioned. This helps the operator to produce a vehicle correctly reducing the chances error.
