A popular current event that has been in the media for a long time is the use of stem cells extracted from embryos and whether or not it is ethical to use the embryos at all. The ultimate debate of whether or not embryos have the same moral standing as an adult or child who are protected by laws and rights. On one hand you have the argument that embryos are not human beings and have no moral status and whether they should be treated with respect and dignity depends on the preferences of those in the situation during that specified time.
