Aphrodite is known as the Greek Goddess of love, beauty, and pleasure. Aphrodite, being as beautiful as she was had many different lovers and affairs with both mortals and Gods. Aphrodite had many children both Divine and Mortal, and most of whom had different fathers. Aphrodite was married to Hephaestus, the Greek God of blacksmiths, metals, fire, and volcanoes, to whom she was very unfaithful to, seeing as it was not her choice to marry Hephaestus. In the Trojan War, Aphrodite chose to join the Trojans instead of the Greeks, she also persuaded Ares to break his promise to his mother Hera and Athena, and made him join the side of the Trojans. When the Trojan War began, Aphrodite joined the side of the Trojans rather than the side of the Greeks. It is said that Aphrodite based her choice on the Trojan prince, Paris, telling her that she was the most beautiful Goddess. When Paris was asked to judge which Goddess: Aphrodite, Hera, and Athena, was most beautiful he chose Aphrodite because she offered the love of the most beautiful woman in the world, Helen of Sparta, who became Helen of Troy when her and Paris eloped. Because Aphrodite was so unhappy she had multiple affairs, and was very unfaithful to her husband. One of her most popular affairs was with Ares the god of war, with whom she had five children, Anteros the God of reciprocal, Deimos the God of fear, Eros the boy God of love, Harmonia the Goddess of harmony, and Phobos the God of panic. Another one of Aphrodite’s popular affairs was with Dionysos, with whom she had two children Iakkhos the God of Elusinian Mysteries, and Priapos the God of garden fertility. Because Aphrodite was always so unfaithful, it is unsure how many different sexual partners Aphrodite had, but it is believed the she had around nineteen
