“Crash”, a veteran minor league baseball player, is sent to the Durham Bulls for one reason: to teach the rookie pitcher “Nuke” and help him make it to the major leagues. A woman named Annie is also part of the movie; she chooses one player every year on the Bulls to be her lover and student. She flirts with both Crash and Nuke, and ultimately picks Nuke. Annie controls every aspect of her life; she needs to stop being quite so in control (and everyone else’s) and give up her self-imposed rules and preconceptions in order to find true fulfillment. Both Annie and Crash both influence Nuke in their own ways. Annie plays mild bondage games, reads poetry to him, and gets him to think in different ways. Crash forces Nuke to learn “not to think”
