The Triangle Fire was one of the worst workplace disasters in history up until the attacks on the world trade center on September 11, 2001. Flesh and Blood So Cheap by Albert Marrin tells about the conditions that the workers had to face, and the fire that sparked such a great conversity that worker rights were forever changed. Most of the non-fiction text deals with a lot of explicit and implicit details about the fire, all regarding the mistakes of the owner that lead up to the deaths of 146 workers.
The word explicit means stated clearly and in detail, leaving no room for confusion or doubt. Albert Marrin had the story setup be in chronological order. In the text and other sources it shows that the owner knew about the fireproof building and chose it for a reason. It states in paragraph 14 the building had no damage and fireproof. Paragraph 14 states,”Chief Croker made his inspection. He found that the Asch Building had no damage to its structure. Its walls were in good shape; so were the floors. It had passed the test. It was fireproof.“ The owner was not concerned about the people inside but was more concerned about the fireproofing on the walls and floors. He does even have anything inside to for the workers to fight the fire shown in paragraph 2. Paragraph 2 states,”Cutters flung buckets of water at the smoking spot.” They had nothing to defend themselves but buckets of water that they have to refill. Due to lack of fire protection the fire started. Workers on the 9th floor had to doors lock. Which meant they had to jump off windows to escape and long and painful death. In paragraph 13 it says,” A young man appeared at a window. Gently, he helped a young woman step onto the windowsill, held her away from the building—and let go. He helped another young woman onto the windowsill.” Sentence is saddening. This young man help two girls escape from a long and painful death due to the owner. You may think it is clear
