The poems Abandoned Farmhouse and Nothing Gold Can Stay have both similarities and differences. Some of the similarities include the theme and the tone. However they are different in the rhyme pattern, and character development. The first way in how they are similar is the theme. In these poems you can see the theme is change. You can see this in Nothing Gold Can Stay and in the line "So dawn goes down to day nothing gold can stay."This means that you can't stop change just like you can't stop the sun going down. You can also see this in Abandoned Farmhouse and in this line "Say the fields cluttered with boulders and the leaky barn. A man, women, and a child once lived here and kept the barn working and kept the fields open but now it is just an old leaky barn with nobody living there anymore. The second similarity is the tone. Both poems have a tone of sadness. In Nothing Gold Can Stay in the line "So Eden sank to grief" This makes you feel sad and it makes you want to keep nature forever, but you can't. Also in Abandoned Farmhouse it says "It was lonely here says the narrow country road." It makes you feel sad because you feel very lonely and sad. In Abandoned Farmhouse It states "He was a big man says the size of his shoes, a tall man too, says the length of his bed in an upstairs room." You now know that there were people living there before it became old, but in Nothing Gold Can Stay there are no characters. You can see that in both these poems have differences
