The Electoral College system has been used since the beginning of the United States, which is over 200 years. The Electoral College isn’t only hard to understand at first, every state doesn’t get their equal vote. How the electors are chosen varies in each state, in most cases, the political parties nominate electors at their State party conventions or by a vote of the party’s central committee in each state. The State Popular vote then tells the electors who to vote for. For starters, if a presidential candidate wins the votes in certain state's, and gets all their electoral votes, it is possible to win the Presidency, without getting the most popular vote, which has occurred in 4 out of the 56 presidential elections. The highest office in our great nation needs to be elected by the people he is representing, and not the electors. In other words, a direct vote for the Presidency is needed. The National Popular vote should replace the Electoral College. The voters would have more of a say in who becomes President. A poll done in 2007 showed that 72 percent of the people supported the National Popular Vote. There are few ways the electoral college can be changed. One way is to solve this is send percentages of electoral votes, or simply ignore the winner-take-all system. Another way to solve the issue is to base electoral votes solely on the population, and separate the nation into regions with the same population and give them each a vote. One last way to solve the issue would be to stop using the Electoral College system and move to the National Popular Vote
