Legitimacy of the Yamato rulers The Kojiki is the exaggerated history of Japan since it is the creation myths. Basically, it says how the land of Japan formed and why the Yamato rulers could rule over the country. From the beginning of Kojiki, it focuses on the story of the gods in order to show that Yamato rulers are descendants of the gods. The two deities Izanagi and Izanami solidifies a drifting land and creates Japan, it gives a sacred image such as the given land from the gods for their descendants. In addition, the Kojiki myths are well mixed with the myth and actual general idea in early Japan. For instance, Izanagi and Izanami could not have ‘good’ children until Izanagi displays good impression to Izanami first. It shows it was considered
