Grease Grease was introduced to the world in 1978, and has been a huge piece of American film history ever since. From it's catchy tunes to it's fun choreography, the movie has captured our hearts, and won’t let go. People continue to watch the lives of Danny and Sandy, and even though it's not a realistic story about two young people in love while in high school, it still pulls them in. Randal Kleiser, the director of the movie, and Paramount Pictures, the production company, had a huge success with the movie. He had a small budget of $6 million, and the movie today has made between $400 million to $500 million. So what is it that made so many people want to watch the movie, and still continue to watch the movie to this day? Due to the film's narrative, mise-en-scene, the music, the stars, and the events happening at the time the movie Grease was released helped make the movie a huge success. In the movie Grease, the film's narrative is what attracts a lot of it's audience. The story of two young people in love is entertaining and appealing to many viewers.…show more content…
Grease brought people back to the fun, happy times, and made viewers forget the events happening outside. "Granted the Grease version of history never occurred, but the musical allowed audiences to neglect their own present by consuming the nostalgia of a perfect utopia." (Malone 46) The movie was a great escape, and made the film more attractive to audiences. The movie wasn’t a realistic version of high schools in the 50's, but it was still inviting, because it took the focus off of the reality that was going on outside the theater doors. It made the film more successful, because people remembered the time to be better than what they were experiencing. The thought of being in high school was more appealing than the thought of being in the middle of a war, and the movie was a good distraction from
