Martin Luther King Jr. – Civil Rights King “I had a dream”, is his most famous line of all. He is a man who changed how things are today. Martin Luther King Jr. is heroic because he had passion, integrity, and was respected by many. Martin Luther King Jr. had passion for his work. King believed that all men were created equal and deserved the same rights. In 1955 King led the Montgomery Bus Boycott. “King was elected to lead the boycott because he was young, well trained, and had few enemies at the time’ (biography). King kept on with the boycott for 382 days. To be able to keep up with this, proves King was very passionate for equality. King had good morals for all men to be equal, which led him to nonviolently fight for this. The result of King’s March on Washington “led to the ratification of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibited racial discrimination “(History). He even donated his prize money to the civil rights movement. Martin Luther King Jr. is heroic because he helped African Americans and all others, have a chance at equality. Lastly, Martin Luther King Jr. was greatly respected. His legacy still lives on today. In his lifetime, King had “grown tired of marches, going to jail, and living under the constant threat of death” (biography), but still continued with his movement. He was assassinated in 1968. Martin Luther King Jr. was deeply respected because now he has a national holiday named after him, and also schools, and public buildings. He is the most widely known African American leader.
