The Crucible Analysis Stephen King once said, “The trust of the innocent is the liar’s most useful tool.” In The Crucible by Arthur Miller, Abigail Williams is a seventeen year old girl caught in the middle of the 1692 Salem Witch Trials. Throughout the play, people look to Abigail to reveal the witches in the town. However, it is all a hoax made up by Abigail and her friends. It starts with the girls breaking the rules in the woods, getting caught, and then turning the attention away from themselves by accusing people of witchcraft.
