Who am I without him? In the story “who am I without him? ’’By Sharon Flake. I felt that the author creates a very realistic and relatable setting, while bringing the reader into the story by including many details about what is going on at the bus stop. This story is about a girl in a relationship with a guy named Raheem. But this isn’t a very “happy” looking couple. This isn’t a very “happy” relationship in my opinion because Raheem steals money from her and hits her if she “steps out of line with him”. She lets him do this to him just because “he’s so cute” and she doesn’t stand up for herself. The [at of the story I have read takes place at a bus stop, after Raheem is done hitting her and taking her money she gets on the bus to go to school. When she gets on the bus she sees Raheem with another girl and kissing her, too. The girl starts crying, and even though she his hurt about what Raheem has done to her, she still wants to please Raheem.…show more content…
The setting of this story is very realistic, because the characters in the story ride the bus to school and usually when you ride the bus you have time to spare. The characters do fit in with the setting. Because hugging and kissing while you’re waiting for the bus fits in, and yelling at other girls because you’re jealous about them looking your boyfriend completely fits in. The author was able to bring the reader into the story with all the details she included. She was able to put the reader smack dab into the setting of the story, and make the reader feel like they were seeing everything that was happening in their own two
