Charles Dickens “ A wonderful fact to reflect upon, that every human creature is constituted to be that profound secret and mystery to every other”( Charles Dickens). Charles Dickens was an English writer, famous for writing many literary classics that we still read today in modern literature. Throughout his life and career he has changed the way we see classic literature, with his remarkable talent for writing with sarcasm and humour in his plays and novels. This essay consists of his early life, career and major achievements, as well as his mark on American literature. Charles Dickens had somewhat of A rough childhood, he struggled with poverty as well as being incapable of going to school. Dickens was born on February 7, 1812 in Portsmouth England. Dickens family was penniless and struggled with debt as well. In 1824 Dickens’ father was charged with debt and sent to prison, Charles was forced to separate from his family, quit school and start working to support himself and his family. In his childhood, it is said that Dickens felt somewhat deserted by the adults who were supposed to care for him.…show more content…

Dickens faced many obstacles as well, such as poverty, not having A proper education, as well as his father's arrest.
