I have watched first hand as Neil and his division have grown and gone from strength to strength. When Neil started at the Society in 2010 the department did not add value to the business where it had the potential to and had a negative reputation. It needed someone to come in and take control by making significant changes and these changes commenced when Neil took the helm. Under his leadership the team has totally transformed from where it was five years ago and is now recognised as a key division with distinguishable teams for each function; a Financial Crime Team , an Operational and Conduct Risk Team, a Risk Monitoring Team, the Legal and Regulatory team and the Customer Relations Team. I try to strike a good balance between support and challenge to get the best from each individual member of my team, respecting the different skills each one brings. I encourage my staff to develop and do all I can to support them along their own individual career paths. This in turn enhances the teams’ performance and ultimately is reflected is in my performance. I want to be able to look around my team and see my replacement sitting before me and for my direct reports replacements to be sitting alongside
