Lancelot Book Review Lancelot is a Novel written by the American author Walker Percy. Considered as a “Catholic writer” he began his literary career with his first work, commonweal in 1956; a catholic magazine depicting the issues of the southern segregation. Later on, Walker Percy has couple of nonfiction works and many other novels and in 1977 he wrote, as mentioned, Lancelot which also depicts issues in southern society. This novel tells a story in a creative way that captures the audience and make them feel uneasy at times but will be, oddly, interesting for the readers. In my opinion, this novel was good but unclear at times with the way that the author depicted the characters but was able to put everything in picture as the novel ended, leaving a question but a satisfactory feeling. Percy was able to, to me, find a way for the readers to feel at presence of the setting and was able to help the audience have an idea with just the overall…show more content… Almost crazed and having a sense of regret with what he has done, Lancelot reflects and tells his friend what has happened to him and reflects to him. During the conversation we can see that Lancelot was able to talk when he saw his friend Harry. Leaving questions to whether Harry existed or not, this leaves the reader wonder if Lancelot was talking to himself or had reached a state of ‘craziness.’ In my opinion, Lancelot was only able to let it all out to his friend since he was a male friend from childhood and was rich at that time. Also I would say that since Lancelot was a Southern gentleman with great pride of oneself, he would only choose Harry as a counselor since he is a man and, in my opinion, would not have said anything if it was a female counselor, since at that time women were still seen as inferior than men and that their role in society was viewed as to please their
