Best Buy’s telecommuting initiative, or flexible work program was the, “groundbreaking Results Only Work Environment (ROWE), one of the most innovative and celebrated examples of a company redesigning work to focus on results and boost performance through motivation-enhancing trust and autonomy” (Valcour, 2013). Telecommuting often makes economic sense, as it can cut costs for a business and employees, such as reduced office space for lower rent, lower electricity bills and employee commuting costs (Wilkie, 2015).
