Reflection Response- The Suburbs In the video, “The Twilight Zone-Evergreen,” it shows that evergreen is a safe place from ghettos, drugs, and other crimes. Evergreen is a place like a stable or we could say a perfect community. It is a suburban area where single family lives here. The PBS documentary detail that people live in the suburb in order to avoid the density and untidiness of the city. Like what the video shows, some parents moved here in order to deal with their teenagers’ behavior. In addition, it also brings that people like to decide for themselves and what rules they have to obey. The twilight zone demonstrates that there are some rules they need to obey. If people broke the rules, they need to face some punishments or consequences for the sake of their community and to their self. Moreover, one issue arising from the suburban growth is the racial issue between blacks and whites. According to the Race: The Power of an Illusion, it states that there is lack of equality in terms of the resources. Whites can take all their resources with them, but blacks cannot get their resources and their loans. Evergreen suggests that life in the suburbs must be perfect or close to perfect where people obey rules. Evergreen is a place where there is hope in terms of protecting the community.
