The legislators and officials of HB 2218 seemed to think that they were doing the morally just move by banning this course. Legislators claimed that the course was racist and taught feeling a resentment and hostility to non-chicano students and excluded them from the class. Legislators seemed truly shocked when the public took their actions of banned the course as racist.
