The Finches treat Calpurnia like she is family and with respect. Since Jem and Scout’s mother has passed, they look to Calpurnia as a mother figure in their lives. 8. Boo Radley is the mysterious neighbor who does not leave his home. They've never seen him and are very curious as to what he looks like. Mayella does not seem like a reliable source because she can’t remember the exact details of what happened. Because she can’t remember, all of her testimonies don’t add up exactly. After Atticus asks more and more questions, Mayella does not answer. “No, I don’t recollect if he hit me. I mean yes I do, he hit me” (248). Goes back on her word multiple times and changes the story, she is not a reliable source. Chapters 19-21: 70. Atticus thinks Bob Ewell harmed Mayella. 72.
