When some think of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” they think of, “A pleasing land of drowsy head…, Of dreams that wave before the half-shut eye; And of gay castles in the clouds that pass, Forever flushing round a summer sky”(Castle of Indolence). For others, they think of a horror-filled nightmare, with an abundance of gore and ghosts. Though, this just depends on what version of the story you watch or read. There are plenty of remakes of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” and some are as far away from the story as possible, with barely any similarities. This is especially true when you compare the original story to the movie, Sleepy Hollow, directed by Tim Burton. The first thing we are told is that Ichabod Crane is a school teacher.…show more content… Ichabod gets scared and races to the church’s bridge, but instead of the horseman vanishing, a “head” is thrown at him and knocks Ichabod unconscious. The town folks find the horse Ichabod was riding, his bundle, and a broken pumpkin. They figure that Ichabod was killed by the Headless Horseman and carry on with their lives. Even though someone reportedly says that they saw Ichabod in New York, many still believe that he was killed. By the end of the story, Brom marries Katrina and seemingly knows what happened to Ichabod. Which, once again, leads us to believe that he was the Headless…show more content… In the story, Ichabod is a teacher who falls madly in love with Katrina. He is scared off by the fake Headless Horseman, who might have been Brom, and runs off to another town. Brom marries Katrina in the end. In the movie, Ichabod is an investigator who is trying to uncover the secrets of the murders. Katrina is still the main love interest, but she is also a good witch along with Ichabod’s mother, who was killed for witchcraft. The Headless Horseman is an actual ghost and is controlled by Lady Van Tassel. The movie ends with Ichabod and Katrina, along with their servant, moving away from Sleepy
