Three Houses Assignment by Allison Morrow 1. I would have liked more information about the grandmother such as is she receiving help about her illnesses, also is she living with the family or separate. I also would have liked more information about Maize such as if she has ever been tested to see if she does indeed have Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. I also wonder what kind of behavioral problems that Chauncey does. House of Strengths There are many strong relationships that are seen throughout people in the family system. Joyce the grand mother does a really good job watching and caring for the kids as much as she can. The family has done a very good job of having some resources to help the family. Sable goes to a pre-school program to help with her speech and cognition. Chauncey the three years old attends a preschool program. All of the kids that are able to go to school go for the most part. The grandmother is they’re as a resource when no one else is there to help and care for the children. Kenya is very bright, sociable and willing to help others when they need help. Sam the father works a part time job as a construction worker and an Iraqi war veteran. Both of the parents were raised with faith in their lives, while they do not practice it today, they still believe in the values. Joyce would like her daughter Jane to stop using alcohol and prescription drugs in order to take better care of the children. Sam hopes to find some sort of relief from depression and flashbacks, which will inevitably end his drug use. He hopes to divorce Jane in a way that will keep the kids safe and healthy. The hope about Kenya is that she will start to take school more seriously and actually go to get an education. Also another hope and goal for Kenya is that she ends her abuse of alcohol and drugs. There is hope that Sable will find resources and help in order to help with her developmental delay. The family hopes for Chauncey is that they hope they will find ways to control his behavior in a positive manner. It is their hope to help Maize by finding out if she is suffering from fetal alcohol syndrome and how to help her. If these hopes were to be met, the family would be much closer and communicate much better with each other. Jane may be able to strong bonds with her children, if she gets her hopes completed. Overall the family would function better in a way that would help the entire family. If everything were fix by a miracle, Jane and Sam would get along, would not be abusing drugs and have a solid relationship. The children would listen to their parents, listen and communicate with
