The reader would think that the biggest mistake would be making nuclear weapons or the absurd amount of wars through human history, but that was not the biggest mistake according to this author. The biggest mistake was adopting agriculture and leaving the old ways of hunting and gathering behind. This concept is observed through the eyes of progressivist and a revisionist. A progressivist is a person who is in favor or advocates progress, change, and improvement. The progressivist view point on agriculture is that it embraces the change and welcomes it. There were many benefits to agriculture. For example, embracing agriculture allowed for free time that hunters and gathers never had. The free time that came with farming allowed for many accomplishments. For example, paintings and amazing architecture were built all because of the time saved from farming, instead of waking up early in the morning and looking for food all day. The other benefit to farming is that the food can be stored for long periods of time. The last reason why farming is the best method is it is a more civilized way to get food, and this method breaks society away from the savage ways of the past. The revisionist view on agriculture is that the worst mistake is due to the fact that so many problems arose
