The SPENT simulation is a great way to help individuals understand the raw issues some people face on a day to day basis. The realistic challenges presented in this simulation challenged my integrity, my maturity, and my budgeting abilities. The financial state of American citizens is rather concerning. I fear this exercise is reality for the majority of American citizens. The government has dodged their responsibility for effectively assisting it citizens for many year. This exercise enforces the need for policy change which will assist citizens in living a comfortable life.
The finical disparity in America culture is not a new issue, the SPENT simulation is the perfect example of the struggle upstanding citizen’s face just to survive. A minim wage job will not provide the funds necessary to have a basic lifestyle in America. The simulation presented me with a situation paying for a vase that I broke during a store setup or hiding the vase. This was an integrity exercise, when your funds are low any additional expense will place you in finical distress. However, that is not an excuse to abandon your personal principles. I chose to pay for the broken vase. Regardless of my financial situation I selected to maintain personal integrity, which allowed me to retain my personal dignity.
