The Pros And Cons Of Computer Networks

Computer Networks We can derive the definition of computer network from the two words, computer and network. “A computer is a device that uses a sequence of instructions to process data into useful information. A network on the other hand is a group of interconnected systems that share resources and interact with each other using a common communication link” (Comer 321). A computer network, therefore is a connection of many computers in order to share or exchange information using a specified link. A network can either be large or small, depending on the number of computers interconnected. A computer network needs both hardware and software. Most computer networks are connected using hubs. However, wireless network often connects computers…show more content…
It allows users to access files throughout the network. Users can therefore begin one work in one computer and then finalize it in another one. Many users can also collaborate in a given project within a specific network. Error reduction can be achieved by many people working on the same…show more content…
This system enables searches for stocks meeting some criteria, performance and enhances forecasting. Another application area is in an information retrieval system which enables searches for books, articles, technical reports and papers on particular topics. In most companies, computer networks are used in sharing of resources and working together in completion of a particular work. Key issues of computer networks include the node nature, computer network topology, channel capacity, interconnection types, channel capacity, protocol levels, type of controls and model type. Node types are necessary to put into consideration and find out whether they are homogeneous or heterogeneous in nature. Computer topology generally accounts for the physical arrangements of the participating computers in the network. Tanenbaum explains: Another consideration is the level of the protocol needs to be followed while establishing communication between computers and finally the applicable model type between analytical, queuing, simulation, measurement and validation models…
