The Pleasure of Eating “The Pleasure of Eating” is an interesting article by Wendell Berry which pose his thoughts about eating and its pleasures. In his opinion one should live freely and eat what they like and healthy for them. Overall he is a supporter of wholesome food and thinks that one should consider the best food and farms from where the fruits and eatable are coming from. They must see and evaluate the processing of food, what pesticides or chemical are used to grow the fruits. Berry believes that food industry is making fool out people because they never mention the processing procedure, they only show it as a clean food and people in fantasy buy it. I agree with berry that we must consider and prefer local fruits because it is fresh in taste and good for eating and have healthy effect on body. Wendell Berry is very concerned about the farming techniques and the processing model adopted to deliver food to consumers. I also agree with his comments that food industries have created artificial taste and aroma which is attracting a large number of people towards them. It is our humanly duty to protect our environment, be happy and eat healthy but at the same side we can’t keep aside from the role of technology in our diet. Wholesome food advocates must see and observe the real reasons behind the obesity. There is need to find the real solution of the obesity rather than targeting the fast food industry. There is a bid debate between wholesome food and junk food jurors about the obesity issue and this will continue in coming years. A high-tech-anti-obesity food engineering is used to eliminate the healthy food ingredients from the food. For example, in yogurt to give the consumer the effect that it is healthy and rich in calories even they are not, and giving the food a chewing texture, ensures the consumer that he is having the product he is supposed to. The big food industry is continually cut down the fat from their menus. From this we can conclude that they are playing with the ingredients and there natural recipes. Nature balance is destroyed by them and never accepted by them
