The Million Dollar Throw It is a very good book about a boy who has to overcome a lot on and off the playing field. Nate the protagonist is a boy who plays quarterback on his football team and looks up to a great quarterback Tom Brady. He is thirteen years old. He is a very good quarterback so some of his friends call him “Brady” because he likes Tom Brady and he is good like him. He best friend is Abby a girl that lives a few blocks away from him. She is one of the major characters because she is his friend and she starts to go blind in the book. Nate starts the football season throwing red hot hitting all of his receivers in stride but that starts to fade and he hits a bad slump. He loses his starting job on the football team and his dad loses his job at Big Bill’s. The family is already in money problems so that only makes that distraction harder for Nate. The other distraction is The Million Dollar throw competition that Abby got him into. He has a lot of pressure with Abby going blind also. It is very hard for him to concentrate.…show more content…
She only goes for a week but Nate’s friendship with her starts to fade. They didn’t see each other for days. They did make up and they still remain friends and in fact they might even be closer now. They go to the Patriots game together. Nate’s family and Abby’s family both go to the Patriots where Nate is going to make the throw of his life. They get to go up in one of the special boxes and they get to walk in the tunnels of the stadium. They also got to walk on the field and throw the ball around.
