In the words uttered by Katniss Everdeen “I was their Mockingjay long before I accepted the role” from the movie: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay part 1, somehow makes me believe that leadership is an act of embracing the responsibility of the people and circumstances around you. I asked my colleagues, what’s the first word that comes out of their mind every time they hear the word “leadership”? Their answers all boils down in saying that, leadership is tantamount to influence. The key feature of this theory that made me bet on this theory is the proper appropriation of leadership styles in accordance to the competence and commitment of the followers. The reason why I find it interesting is because it is very idealistic. I don’t mean any negative impressions with this kind of leadership but I think that this leadership style would be effective in an organization which suffered from a poor management for a long time, yet still very hopeful to have a positive change in governance. In my country, the Philippines, most people have negative impressions when they hear about government.
