English language is one of the most important communication tools in the world. Learning English is a necessary subject for all contexts of English as a second or foreign language due to its popularity and importance all over the universe. Also word acquisition and identification of words rapidly as a skill is a major correlate of reading (Nathan & Stanovich, 1991). So students’ success with sight word recognition is a critical part in their achievement as lifelong readers (Weakland, 2013). Moreover, reading is an essential part of education which related to individual’s general achievement and success over their life (McElheran, 2010). Reading is perhaps the most significant skill in academic contexts because most students in educational settings learn a second language especially English to get information through reading. Development of reading in children and adults has been considered by researchers as a series of stages (Chall 1983; Harris & Sipay 1990; Norman & Malicky, 1987). Recently, there has been a significant emphasis placed on reading in the curriculum preform. Reading is one of the central tasks in helping students become autonomous learners. To read effortlessly with understanding, readers need to identify nearby 95 percent of the words in a text (Adams, 1990). Learning to read in the first several years of school is vital to achievement in later grades and in life (Hiebert, Pearson, Taylor, Richardson, Paris 1998). Therefore, as Carrell (198 9) mentioned, understanding and performing a great amount of reading tasks with speed and with good comprehension becomes essential for students. Researchers show that reading in the first and second language can be very different. Readers in the primary stages of L1 and L2 reading, frequently have differing amounts of vocabulary, grammatical, and discourse knowledge. Linguistic and processing differences through L1 and L2, influences of language transfer, and differing dependence on phonological processes affect reading performance (Grabe, 1991; Grabe & Stoller, 2002). Although most of the language learners discover reading English difficult, reading is the most important skill that a person should acquire (Phantharakphong & Pothitha, 2014).
