Books and movies can be different in many ways. Especially when the book is read first and then watching the movie to that book. Things like lighting, characters, and places can be quite different in the movie then what someone might have imagined. Sometimes directors add new things or take things out to make the movie more interesting or enjoyable for the viewers. In The Hobbit they added a few new things just like any other movie might do, and they changed things slightly or made it easier to understand. With the book being the original, and then the movie being slightly different, it gives some things to compare to. Some of the scenes they added were major, but most of them were little scenes. In the movie the scene of the wargs and eagle rescue was slightly different. In the book compared to the movie, the book never had the Pale Orc in it in the first place, so when the Pale Orc comes in, that changes it already. In the book the tree was never falling over a cliff when the eagles came to rescue them. Also in the book the Pale Orc wasn’t chasing them with the Wargs from tree to tree. When the dwarves were at the last tree on the edge of the cliff, Thorin got up and went to try and fight the Pale Orc. Thorin became hurt and was about to have his head removed, when Bilbo came running and tackled the goblin that was going to kill Thorin. While Bilbo was doing that, most of the other dwarves came running over attacking the Pale Orc and Wargs. After a little while of fighting, one of the dwarves fell of the tree hanging over the cliff and an eagle caught him. The rest of the eagles came swooping in and taking the dwarves, killing the wargs, and saving Gandalf as well. The eagles then took them to a tall rock, dropped them off there, and left. In the book the only thing that happened from that was the eagles coming in, saving them from the wargs, and taking them to safety. That was a scene that stood out to me.
