The Centaurus is one of the eighty-eight known constellations in our Solar System. It is found in the Southern Hemisphere and is the ninth largest constellation, filling 1060 square degrees. Inside the Centaurus are two of the ten brightest recorded stars- Alpha Centauri and Beta Centuari. I chose this particular constellation to look into as it is obviously associated with centaurs, which are creatures I find fascinating and awe-striking.
The story of the Centaurus originates from Greek and Roman civilizations. There is some debate as to which centaur it depicts, Chiron or a less known centaur, but most sources that I found agree that it is the former. For the purpose of telling this story, I will recite the story of Chiron.
