Introduction Throughout the years, several researches have been carried out in order to understand how children learn. Experts have arrived at several conclusions and although many things are said, we conclude that children only learn if they are motivated. Educators ought to be purposeful about integrating all the aspects which enrich learning: reading and language, motor stimulation, drama and critical thinking. The latter seems to be one of the most difficult nowadays. It results a challenge for teachers, as it implies analyzing, questioning, evaluating, interpreting or synthesizing information in order to form opinions and arguments, and not only accumulating information. I want them to make comparisons with the poster and the story of the caterpillar. “At the second stage, caterpillars spend their time eating and sleeping as the character of the story we read. Do you remember?” What does he eat?” so, students will mention what the caterpillar eats. In this way, they will remember the story and make comparisons. Also, I show them a brief video that supports the explanation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAUSKxWMIh0 . The information I provide them is adapted to their level, the vocabulary is simple and everything I explain can be observed in the poster. Once I have finished with the life cycle, I propose performing the life cycle of the butterfly with our body. First, I show them how to do it, saying the instruction out loud so as they can understand what I am doing. Then, I encourage them to do it. These are the instructions they should follow. All the class will represent the 4 stages at the same time. Then, I point to any of them, saying:” Now you do it.” So that student performs the life cycle of the butterfly. On the board there will be all the flashcards pasted. I start reading the story and when I say “..And pop…” the student will break the paper. After this, I mention the different items of food this caterpillar eat and he/she will eat them ravenously and so on, until he arrives at “Sunday”, the day in which the caterpillar eats a lot of food. That part of the story will be read faster, trying to put emphasis on the idea that the character needs to eat a lot in order to become a beautiful butterfly. The rest of the students will repeat the food along with me as they know the story very well. In order to show that the caterpillar is at the cocoon, the student can be cover with toilet paper. Once he becomes a butterfly, all children pretend they are flying. This activity can be done with another student as the group is small.
