The author of “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas” is John Boyne and was written in 2006. The author of “Son” is Lois Lowry and was written in 2012. “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas” is about a boy named Bruno and he moves to Poland. He moved to Poland because his dad is a Military Commandant and is in charge of a camp that holds Jews. Bruno soon discovers the camp when he sneaks out to explore. He meets a boy named Shmuel who is in the camp and he doesn’t know what he’s doing there, he also lost his father when he got to the camp. They become friends and Bruno would go to the fence that was a border for the Jews everyday to play and talk with Shmuel. One day Shmuel is working at Bruno’s house and Bruno gives him bread to eat, but an officer comes in and Bruno said that Shmuel stole the bread. Shmuel gets beat as a punishment. When Bruno sees him at the fence one day he said that he will do anything to get Shmuel to forgive him for what he has done. So the next day Shmuel brings an extra uniform and Bruno puts it on. The connection to the characters where not the same in both books. I related more to “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas” because I do have some friends that my parents don’t really like. Though in “Son” I didn’t relate much because I never was so despite to see another human being. The impact of the plot, characters, conflict, theme or setting of the book was greater in “The Boy in the Stripped Pajamas” because it was more interesting and I could relate to the book more. I personally prefer “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas” because I understood the book more, I could relate a lot to Shmuels and Brunos friendship, and it was hard for me to get my head out of the book because it kept pulling me
