The American Medical Association, or AMA, advocates for the needs of both physicians and patients with the ultimate goal of constantly bettering the public health. The AMA is composed of over two-hundred-thousand physicians, including those with with DO’s, or Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine as well as those with MD’s, or Medicinae Doctor, meaning Doctor of Medicine. In their own words, the AMA claims to do many things, “from advocating on behalf of physicians and patients to addressing their day-to-day needs–the AMA is working to shape a healthier future.” Politically, the AMA has several committees, such as the AMPAC, or American Medical Political Action Committee, which is, as suggested by the name, a PAC, or Political Action Committee, meaning
