1) Summarize the plot of the piece. If you feel that there was no plot, describe the sequence of events in the performance. El Nogalar is a play that focuses on Maite’s family (consisting of her daughters Dunia, Valeria, and Anita) and their relationship with their house and the Pecan orchard. The house that they are living in is currently under a lot of debt. The cartel, which is essentially in control of the government, seeks to take away the orchard and the house from the family to use for their business. Mr. Lopez, a friend of the family and worker of the cartel, makes an offer to loan the family money to pay for the house, but in return, they must hand over el nogalar. Maite refuses, being attached to the orchard as if it were her family. The family argues…show more content…
To put it into perspective, I have never seen my mom wearing anything like that. It reemphasizes what I mentioned in question number 5, that she cares a lot about her physique and that she acts younger for her age. 9) Was there music in the piece? If so, how did it contribute to the “world” of the piece? If not, was there a moment when you felt like music might have enhanced the action (be sure to specify what kind of music you’d want to hear in the scene: classical, punk, etc) There was some music. Not necessarily sure what genre of music it was, but I would describe it as peaceful and serene. It was clearly of Hispanic origin. This helped me to feel as if I was actually in Mexico immersed in the Hispanic culture. Much like the set, the music made the play more real and authentic since the music corresponded with the setting of the play. 10) Finally, did you like the piece?
