In his essay "Dumb kids” Mark Bowden brings attention to his audience on how someone can learn from all individuals in order to give different points of view on societies stereotypes, and let the audience decide for themselves weather a child is or is not "dumb" Were these children really dumb or were they misbehaving because of this stereotype Present. Bowden reflects on his experience in Catholic school where there was a separation of students. What Bowden implies is that when you have separation and implicit expectations for kids, they are going to act according to what is being implied and thrown upon them. Bowden speaks on how there was never any mystery on “where anyone stood", Meaning in his case you were either a "dumb kid"
