As technology becomes more and more integrated into our lives, it is common to see people on their electronic devices every day during this so called Digital Age. In spite of that, in the essay “Attached to Technology and Paying a Price”, Matt Richtel says that the overuse of technology has influenced people’s life negatively, as well as the relationship among them and their significant others. In addition, he claims that technology is changing the way people think and their behavior. In this article, we are told about the story of Kord Campbell who uses “technology than most”. He starts his day with his computer screens and end his day with computer screens. I often find myself spending a few hours on my phone juggling messages, checking my emails, Instagram, and other social media. I don’t think that I would ever stop using my phone my phone just because it is my main line to keep in touch with my family and friends. I’ll have to admit that sometimes, it gets difficult for me to concentrate on doing my work when there are so many distractions. Personally, I have yet to experience anything overboard as the Campbell’s family other than being a little bit behind on some school assignments sometimes. But I have always managed to have them done by the due date even though it might take a while for me to finish the work since I would be in multiple chats with my friends, along with several different tabs on my laptop. The example of the Campbell family is so extreme that it seems like they are suffering from technology. It has become harder for them to communicate with each other. Kord has trouble focusing on the family. Everything that they do involves technology in it. I said the example is extreme because not everyone is like this family, not everyone is abusing use of technology, and not everyone is obsessed with
