American Airlines Pilot Dies Mid-Flight My national current event’s article is titled, “Co-pilot lands American Airlines plane after pilot dies during flight”. This occurred on a red-eye flight from Phoenix to Boston. This happened just earlier today. Flight 550 out of Phoenix had 147 passengers and five crew members on a nonstop flight to Boston when the pilot became ill. the \co-pilot radioed in that he was “incapacitated”. The co-pilot then radioed that the pilot was unresponsive and had quit breathing. The flight diverted to Syracuse, New York, but the pilot had died before landing.
