The question raised by the host of the podcast Stephen J. Dubner was why as a society do we watch the news. He asked this question because of his daughter that has the weekly assignment of finding a pertinent news article and reporting about it. He had asked daughter and her friends “What is the point of reading about the current events?” and their responses were along the lines of because it’s the right thing to do, that by being better informed that they will make a better world for their children, and that it makes you smarter. When he asked Alex Frankel why so many people watch the news and what they truly are watching it for he said that the even though you think that you go home and watch the six o’clock to make better more informed
