In 1667, Pope Clement IX beatified Rose; soon, Pope Clement X canonized her in 1671. Rose is the patron saint of South America and the Philippines because she was the first saint from the Americas. St. Rose is well respected in all of the Spanish-American speaking countries. Her feast day was declared to be on August 23 by the Vatican. A crown of roses, spiked crown, iron chain, and her needle and thimble would represent her. A portrait of her hangs in a sanctuary named after her called St. Rose’s Sanctuary and it has remained in beautiful condition greater than three-half of a century.
