The novella Of Mice and Men, includes two main characters, who drive the novel. The author creates an everlasting bond and friendship between the two very different men. Lennie, whom is described as a bear-like man, is incredibly strong and caring, but brought back by his clumsiness and naivety. He is accompanied by his much smaller, diligent as well as determined partner George, who keeps him out of trouble. Despite Lennie’s actions that land George in hot water, their undying friendship keeps them together. The two migrant workers live during difficult times in the 1930’s, near Salinas, California, during the great depression: the novella takes place during times of high unemployment rates and people struggling to survive.
